Today the group walked through Burgos, stopped for breakfast and a view of the amazing cathedral, and continued to our destination. I also heard an interesting thing. Yesterday a runner passed our group while on the trail. The Swedish guy I had been in a conversation with a couple days ago got to talking with her and decided he was going to run the remaining 500km to Santiago with her. The two friends he was with think he got swept off his feet and won’t make it to Santiago running. We’ll see what happens… for today I am planning to put in mostly pictures and less writing.
We walked 34km and will probably do around 31km tomorrow. Things felt good after the short day yesterday and my blisters are starting to get better. I actually drained 3 of them and they aren’t sore or painful at all. Now just bandaids and sterilization. I feel pretty adapted to the walking routine now after 10 days. It’s been difficult in other ways some days, sometimes with the insane amount of social interactions, mental stress of answering the “why are you walking the Camino” question for the 19th time, etc etc. (the answer evolves each time, by the way). It’s 9:30, I’m in bed and planning on getting lost in my new book, then passing out. I am starting Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, an old stoic philosopher. Hoping to learn something from it to apply to my Camino.
